A night of escapist, humanist & relatable entertainment in a theatrical setting. Jean Riki believes audiences want to see more of themselves on stage. Further that writer and Associate Producer Pete Malicki’s seven pieces plus guest Seth’s closing work ‘The Adultery Dinner’ provides her with the narrative instruments to do so.

EXTRAORDINARY
UNUSUAL

Extra(ordinary) Un(usual) has been presented multiple times in theatres up until 2018. For this iteration Jean & co-producer Sudip asked themselves: why does the audience need to see these performances all these years later? They concluded that with all the pressures of the 21st century weighing us down why not give audiences a fun night out, but some thought-provoking performance as well? From this premise they have sought to breathe new life into the showcase to meet the needs of an ever-changing, vibrant theatrical landscape. Pete himself has written a new work specifically for the March performance. ‘The Watcher’ starring Julia Burns is probably his best work to date for this format. Showcase co-directors Ryan & Nick have also come to this premise with much to offer.

All the goodness of past iterations of Extra/Un has been maintained. Yet Jean and her team have created something new and exciting.
